Americold’s mission to modernize and accelerate the global cold chain took a major step forward with the opening of its first Import-Export Hub in partnership with CPKC. Designed to streamline refrigerated logistics across North America, the new facility strengthens the movement of temperature-controlled goods between Canada, the United States, and Mexico through CPKC’s one-of-a-kind Mexico Midwest Express single-line rail service.
Located in Kansas City, Missouri, this new 335,000 sq. ft. cold storage and cross-dock operation represents a $100M+ investment and brings more than 190 new jobs to the region. The site includes 95 trailer docks, USDA inspection rooms, and infrastructure built for both efficiency and future growth.
Staco Electric was proud to serve as the electrical construction partner for this landmark project. Our scope included installing (2) 4,000-amp services supplying power to 135,000 sq. ft. of cooler and freezer environments, along with an additional 4,000-amp service dedicated to future expansion. These systems form the backbone of a highly specialized facility where reliability, redundancy, and precise temperature control are critical.
With its strategic location, advanced rail connectivity, and state-of-the-art electrical infrastructure, the Americold & CPKC Import-Export Hub is positioned to redefine cold-chain speed, access, and efficiency throughout North America.
